類義語との違い
- meet: meetは単なる接触や顔合わせを指しますが、encounterは「予期せぬこと」や「困難」に焦点が当たり、避けていたものや驚くべきものに出会うニュアンスが強まります。
- face: faceは困難に対して「立ち向かう」「直視する」という主体的・能動的な姿勢を含むのに対し、encounterは「不意に出くわす」という受動的なニュアンスが強くなります。
